Executive Search and Bridge Management

Executive Search and Bridge Management

Most economic development organizations will, at some point, make changes in their executive staff positions. These changes often take place with short notice leaving those organizations in a quandary as to how they should continue operating on a high level and not lose traction with clients, projects and staff. SHEDC has experience in both executive search and bridge management having assisted a variety of local and regional economic development organizations through those difficult times.

We provide these two services individually or collectively to insure our clients a seamless and fast transition by assisting them with their specific needs. Some of the ED components that SHEDC provides to its clients include:

Executive Search Services

Our generalized methodology for this service is usually four-phased in its approach and is tailored for the client.

  1. Align Expectations – A local search committee is formed to identify the “ideal candidate profile” after first being sure that the job description accurately reflects expectations of the client.

  2. Candidate Pool Building – We develop a qualified candidate pool through ad placements in professional online publications and by leveraging our extensive network of economic development leaders to create the highest quality candidate pool to meet the “ideal candidate profile”. We work with projects in many different states and know the ED professional that may be the best candidates for the position.

  3. Review and Evaluation – Telephone interviews are conducted by SHEDC using a matrix developed by SHEDC to evaluate the candidates to match the “ideal candidate” profile.

  4. Interview, Assessment and Final Evaluation – SHEDC normally coordinates all aspects of the interview and the top candidates are chosen to interview, usually through one of several processes.

Bridge Management Services

SHEDC’s approach for bridge management is based on the needs of the ED organization and is tailored for them. Some of elements may be:

  1. SHEDC may serve as the face of the ED organization, managing information flow and coordination between the locality members, third party administration services providers, prospects and allies. Respond or assist with all inquiries.

  2. Coordinate and/or support the arrangements to host prospect visits and travel as necessary to meet with clients at their locations.

  3. Manage daily operations and support staff with various programs.

  4. Oversee the financial integrity of the organization and ensure that established goals are moving forward.

  5. Negotiate incentive packages for potential prospects when needed.
